Gandhi Market, also known as Mahatma Gandhi Market, is a wholesale farmers’ market in the Tamil Nadu city of Tiruchirappalli. It was started in 1867 as the Fort Market and finished in 1868. [1] When P. Rathinavelu Thevar was mayor of Tiruchirappalli in 1927, the market was expanded and renamed Mahatma Gandhi market in honour of Mahatma Gandhi.
