On Friday, the landmark Tiruchi District Court building celebrated its 100th anniversary, making it a memorable day for the legal community here. The District Court building, which overlooks the Uyyakondan canal and is modelled after the London District and Sessions Court, is one of the city’s most beautiful sights.
The building’s foundation was set by then-District and Sessions Judge J.G. Burn on April 28, 1917, and it was inaugurated on August 16, 1919.
