Poondi Madha Basilica

The history of the Poondi Madha Church dates back to the late 19th century. The Shrine was established in 1826 by Fr. Antony Mariadas, a Jesuit missionary, who dedicated it to Our Lady of Lourdes. The shrine gained prominence due to reports of miraculous healings and spiritual experiences associated with it. Many devotees believe in the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary in healing various ailments and fulfilling prayers. Over the years, the shrine has undergone several developments and expansions to accommodate the increasing number of pilgrims. Facilities such as accommodation, prayer halls, and other amenities have been added to cater to the needs of visitors.
