According to sources at the Ordnance Factory, Tiruchi (OFT), the Trichy Assault Rifle (TAF), which was built in-house to AK47 specifications, has passed the quality test for use by paramilitary forces.
The CRPF’s acceptance of the firearm in New Delhi has given OFT staff a great deal of relief. Employee unions who were prepared to address the issues raised by the Army have long demanded that paramilitary and military units accept TAF.
