RAKESH MISRA, general manager of Southern Railway, officially opened the Rail Museum on February 18, 2014. Over 9000 square feet of interior work, outside landscaping, and a model train track were all included in the construction of the Rail Museum Trichy. The Rail Museum will cost roughly 1.35 crore. The museum is intended to be a part of the 150th Sesquicentennial anniversary of the formerly South Indian Railways. Due to financial limitations, the complete museum was only accessible to the public on February 25, 2015. The museum will present the extensive history of the former South Indian Railway. The Central Bus Stand in Trichy was nearby.
