It was converted into a college for the second grade in 1928 and a postgraduate institution under the University of Madras in 1964. The UGC granted the college autonomous status in 1987. An independent women’s institution called Holy Cross College is situated in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, India. The University Grants Commission has designated it as a “College with Potential for Excellence (CPE)”. According to the 2020 National Institutional List Framework (NIRF) ranking of Indian colleges, the college is rated 42nd overall. The college has undergraduate and graduate programmes in science and the arts that are connected to Bharathidasan University. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council has awarded the college the highest “A++” Grade of accreditation.
